Omnibus Systems helps drive PTI2000

Seven local councils in South West England are among the latest customers for Oldham based Omnibus Systems computer timetable software.

The councils need reliable software to produce timetable data for the South West TRIP project, part of the PTI 2000 national transport database. Working with project managers Action Information Management (AIM), Omnibus Systems have enhanced the OmniTIMES for Windows software to produce the data required by South West TRIP.

Omnibus Systems managing director Peter Crichton said that the recent sales to Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol City, Devon, North Somerset, Plymouth City, South Gloucestershire and Torbay Councils were built on Omnibus Systems’ previous success in selling timetabling and scheduling software to every major bus operator in the region.

The authorities chose OmniTIMES not only because it is competitively priced and easy to use, but also because data transfer from bus operators already using OmniTIMES is quick and simple.

Andrew Seedhouse, of Plymouth City Council, the Local Authority co-ordinator of South West TRIP, said;
 “We have been very pleased with the recent performance of Omnibus Systems in the provision of data changes and data exporting processes to enable the South West region to export data in the new ATCO.CIF standard on behalf of the PTI 2000 initiative.  They have responded positively to not only our software development requirements, but have also provided a very good training and support package.  As a company their attitude has always been positive and helpful, and we look forward to working with them as an
integral partner in the South West TRIP initiative.”

More than 50 British bus and light rail operators already use OmniTIMES, and recent major contracts signed with FirstGroup and Blazefield Holdings will expand this number considerably. Omnibus Systems are looking to expand further into the local authority market, not only with the upgraded Windows version of OmniTIMES, but also with their OmniSTOP bus stop display program. OmniSTOP has also been significantly upgraded recently, and as well as several local councils, is now the group standard for both FirstGroup and Blazefield.
